Core

Committees

Committee Members are our most enthusiastic volunteers. They work closely with the Core Directors in planning the event as a whole, often positioning themselves to one day take on Berkeley Project leadership roles. Many Committee Members also choose to be Site Leaders - in doing so, they gain the most well-rounded Berkeley Project experience possible, as they contribute to both the preparatory work and the hands-on volunteering.

Executive

The Executive committee consists only of the President and Vice President. The President oversees the entire organization, primarily focusing on planning and execution of a successful event trajectory. To do this, the President manages all fifteen Core members, runs all meetings, and operates as the liaison between Berkeley Project and all on and off-campus community partners. The Vice President operates as the city liaison, working directly with the City of Berkeley to help supervise and manage city projects.

Event Planning

The Event Planning Committee is primarily responsible for the successful execution of the opening ceremonies, all food, and the after event. Our most important, yet most time-consuming, task is to ensure sponsorships from local eateries and businesses. Being a nonprofit student run community service organization, our interests are primarily geared towards food donations rather than monetary donations. We are also responsible for ensuring the aesthetic beauty of all Berkeley Project events.

Finance

The Finance Committee serves its function by keeping Berkeley Project alive and running. We are responsible for raising funds by applying to numerous on- and off- campus grants, as well as engage in creative on-campus fundraising events to fund our project costs in the long term. Constructing and maintaining budgets for the Berkeley Project Core is another key aspect to Finance. Lastly, we strive to maintain financial keep-up of the core by managing financial reimbursements and communicating with other committees whose financial needs may change throughout the course of the planning process.

Marketing

The Marketing committee is responsible for the branding of The Berkeley Project, via online and on campus platforms. Our aim is to create a consistent image of BP that is inviting and to project that to the campus and wider community. Our main tasks include the aesthetics of BP; the design and production of flyers, promotional items, committee and volunteer gear, banners, signboards, etc. The marketing committee works closely with the Recruiting committee in outreach and we are constantly looking for opportunities to raise BP's profile and awareness on and off campus.

Recruiting

The Recruiting committee recruits! The main goal of this committee is to inform the on and off campus community of the event, and to encourage participation from all areas of Berkeley. To do this, Recruiting is in charge of all on and off campus publicity, press releases, application to awards, and management of all other media outlets.

Site Planning

The Site Planning Committee is entirely responsible for the acquiring all the worksites for BP volunteers. In constant contact via countless e-mails and phone calls with passionate and energetic city workers and community organizers, Site Planning organizes and manages the site logistics for all BP Days.

Volunteer

The Volunteer Committee serves as the link between the Berkeley Project Core and it's participants. It is responsible for appointing Site Leaders and organizing the entire volunteer workforce. As such, the primary tasks include designing and processing registration forms, allocating groups to sites, and responding to all questions from volunteers. In addition, the Volunteer Committee also runs training sessions and social events to prepare Site Leaders for the event.

Special Projects

The Special Projects position is designed to increase communication and fluidity within the Core Committee as well as on BP days. Special Projects works to improve internal cohesiveness between core members via the planning of weekly dinners, bonding events, and retreats. Other responsibilities include secretarial duties at weekly meetings and organizing transportation for the volunteers on BP days.

Web

The Web Committee's goal is to establish the online presence of The Berkeley Project. Web's main tasks can be generalized into two categories: design (coding and stylizing the website's layout) and development (programming features that will enhance the user experience for volunteers and committee members).
